You'd think, but the final word from people who've tried it again and 
again is that Ubuntu/Debian/etc. won't install on Xserve no matter what 
tricks they tried.

I think I'm going to take Canonical up on their offer to certify 
Xserve/Intel for Ubuntu, let them deal with it... either that or wait 
for OS X 10.5 Server (or try the beta like Chris Dagdigian suggested), 
maybe that will suffice for us.
