[Biodevelopers] JPEG supported on UNIX?

Hi everyone,

Any help will be really greatful.

I would like to know if UNIX provides support for JPEG, PNG or BMP for R? I looked for these,especially JPEG, by using the capabilities() function and it says NOT available.

This is the error message i get for jpeg():

 Error in X11(paste("jpeg::", quality, ":", filename, sep = ""), width,  :
        unable to start device JPEG
In addition: Warning message:
could not open JPEG file Rplot001.jpeg

The X11() display also does not get loaded.

The version of R is 2.1.0. (2005)

Any ideas on how i can get the above formats through UNIX?
