My apologies. The prior version of this message had a error in the
URL's. This message has the correct URLs -- HJB

Testers are needed for the mac classic binaries of the latest release
of RasMol.

The MacBinary of the PPC binary is available at:

http://blondie.dowling.edu/frs/download.php/126/RasMac_PPC.bin

and the MacBinary of the 68K binary is available at:

http://blondie.dowling.edu/frs/download.php/127/RasMac_68K.bin

and the source kit is available at:

http://blondie.dowling.edu/frs/download.php/128/rasmol_2.7.3.1_ru_5Nov06.tar.gz

These binaries are 32-bit (millions of colors) versions. The only difference
between this source kit and the source kit for the recently released
test version used in the windows installer is an updated RasMac.r with
new icons.

Builds from source for the PPC should be done with CodeWarrior 9.
Builds from source for the 68K should be done with CodeWarrior 5.3.

This is the Mac Classic adaption of the Russified
RasMol_2.7.3.1_RU_Windows, extending the Russian translation to PPC
and 68K Mac Classic environments. The PPC version uses InternetConfig
and requires features normally seen only in Mac OS 8.5 and above. The
68K version does not use InternetConfig. As with the windows version
this version incorporates the new Russian translations of
menus and messages by Gregory A. Pozhvanov, in addition
to the previously available, English, Spanish, Italian
and French versions. Our thanks to Isabel Servan Martinez,
Jose Miguel Fernandez Fernandez, Fernando Gabriel Ranea,
Jean-Pierre Demailly, Giuseppe Martini, Giovanni Paolella,
A. Davassi, M. Masullo, C. Liotto for the currently
available translations, as well as to G. Pozhvanov for this
new Russian translation and to Mamoru Yamanish, who is
working on the Japanese version and improvements to integration
with Mac OS X.

We believe that the changes in this version are close to being
ready for full release, with the following items on the updated
"punch list":

   1. Corrections to the icon masks (now mac as well as windows)
   2. Final adaptation for Mac classic with an installer
   3. Alignment of changes to the Unix/Linux/Mac OS X X11 versions

These Mac Classic versions are intended for users of Mac OS 8
or 9. Please note that these versions will not run on Intel-based Macs
without third party software to emulate a Mac Vlassic environment.
These versions will run on Mac OS X on PPC-based systems that
support the Mac Classic environment, but such use requires
a fixup to data and script file types. For example, if you
have the program SetFile in /Developer/Tools, and are using
the C-shell

set setfile=/Developer/Tools/SetFile
foreach file (*.pdb *.cif *.ent *.PDB *.CIF *.ENT)
$setfile -c "RSML" -t "TEXT" $file

will make the usual data types visible to classic versions
of RasMol under OS X running Classic.
