Protein Explorer (PE) (http://proteinexplorer.org) does not operate in
Internet Explorer 7. If you plan to use Protein Explorer, don't hesitate to
upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 as long as you can also plan to use Firefox
(http://getfirefox.com) for Protein Explorer.
In summary:
- Firefox supports all of PE' capabilities.
- Internet Explorer 6 does not support PE's "Features of the Molecule",
nor the development of MolSlides, but most of PE works fine in IE6.
- Internet Explorer 7 does not work with PE at all.
The current version of PE (2.79 Beta) fails to start in IE7, ungracefully.
Unless I find a workaround (seems unlikely now) the next release of PE will
"gracefully" (explicitly) refuse to start in IE7.
