Bob Hanson has been doing a fantastic job of porting Protein Explorer
to Jmol (eliminating Chime): http://jmol.proteinexplorer.org (PEJ).
He has made numerous enhancement as well.
I have neither used nor tested his version, since I have been
committing my time to the resources touted at http://top5.molviz.org
notably http://Proteopedia.Org and http://FirstGlance.Jmol.Org.
However, I greatly appreciate and admire Bob's work on PEJ, and if
only I had more time, I would be involved.
For those of you who like(d) the old PE, you will find a familiar
interface in PEJ with ever growing power. Bob is very responsive to
suggestions and bug reports.
I have revised the initial page at http://proteinexplorer.org to
include my more recent recommendations as well as the link to PEJ.
