Subject: [Proteopedia] updates and bug fixes in Proteopedia

Dear Proteopedians,

Since June 19 up to today, we have been observing a series of bugs in the 
initial "Simplified model" display in Proteopedia pages, such as these:

- initial cartoon view not properly rendered (for proteins containing phospho- 
amino acids)
- beta strands and sheets not displayed in the initial simplified view 
(displayed as trace instead)
- beta strands and sheets displayed as a series of triangles instead of a 
ribbon with arrow point 

I am happy to say that all these are --hopefully-- fixed as of today.
It was all caused by a combination of issues: Jmol version (now updated to 
14.6), old and new states, and mostly the switch to using mmCIF models of 
assemblies from PDBe rather than the former pdb files from RCSB PDB.
Using assemblies is a decision aimed at offering by default the most 
biologically significant structure, and is based on the curation being done at 
EBI (hosting PDBe).

Thanks to all that helped Jaime and myself track and fix these bugs, 
including Bob Hanson and the team at EBI (Sameer Velankar et al).

Subject: [Proteopedia] downtime for hardware upgrade

On Sunday 28 Aug Proteopedia will be down between 6:00 AM UTC/GMT and 7:00 AM UTC/GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) to perform a hardware upgrade. 

We apologise in advance and suggest alternative occupations for that hour, like jogging or keep sleeping.

Subject: [Proteopedia] Proteopedia health is restored

During the past week, the company that hosts Proteopedia made some 
changes on their servers, and for several days, access to Proteopedia 
was unreliable. We apologize for this problem, particularly inconvenient 
as the fall semester begins. It was beyond the control of the 
Proteopedia development team. The problem appears to be fixed as of 
yesterday, and we are getting quick and reliable responses. Please let 
us know if you encounter any difficulties.
