  • Macroshack: Biolibrary of GUI macros - Summary

All categories :: bioinformatics software development :: Macroshack: Biolibrary of GUI macros

The purpose of this project is two-fold. First of all, we would like to provide the average researcher with top-notch bioinformatics support. Second, we aim to provide a forum for bioinformaticians to distribute their work in a readily available form

    New Programs
Submitted by David G. Cox; posted on Monday, August 19, 2002

    Hello Everyone...

I am sorry, but I have been very busy with writing various papers, my thesis, and trying to find a post-doc. I should have more time to devote to this project now, so please help!

I have added some useful programs to the project. Please be sure to check them out! For the most part, they deal with handling genotype data. However, there are others in the pipeline for statistical analysis as well. The bootstrapper is one I am particularly proud of. While it doesn't do anything TOO spectacular, it allowed me to make some interesting conclusions on some of my populations of data....

Since I am only one person, I need help in testing my programs on various platforms. Please let me know if you use any program, and on what platforms.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Announcing the Macroshack!
Submitted by David G. Cox; posted on Tuesday, February 19, 2002

    Hello Everyone.

This news bit is to announce the start of the Macroshack at
Bioinformatics.org. What is the Macroshack, you might ask?
    It's purpose is generally twofold:

    1. To provide top-notch bioinformatic support for researchers
    2. To allow biologically oriented programmers with material
    to create, exchange, and modify.

How are we going to go about this? Well, I personally see the
bio-programmer much like the caddy in golf. They provide the
tools and knowledge that help the golfer (researcher) work
    more accurately and more efficiently.

So, if you are a researcher, performing repetitive tasks and
getting blisters on your hands from mouse movements, let us
know. If you are a programmer, looking for things to program,
stop in and see if there is anything interesting to do!

Also, feel free to ask any questions along the way... This is
a learning experience for all involved!

    Take care,

    Dave Cox
