Interpro

Please click the following link to search for zinc finger proteins in Interpro. search zinc. Then drag the links from the result list into STRAP.

PFAM-links can be dragged directly into STRAP to load the multiple sequence alignment. For examples browse the Pfam site.
Note:Multiple sequence files in MSF, Stockholm or Fast and Nexus format are recognized by the file content and not by the file name. Other formats are recognized by the file ending ".clustalw", ".nexus" or ".aln";

The following page is an example for a search result in ProDom: Search "finger"
The ProDom entries in this page can be dragged directly into STRAP.

Technical details

White space in Windows-Path: Normally, STRAP loads the protein from the file that has been dragged and the file contents does not need to be copied into the Working directory. However, on Windows directory names often contain white space. Since white space is generally not used in file and directory names, this may cause problems with Bioinformatics programs that are not prepared for this. To avoid this problem, a copy of these files in the working directory is used rather rather than the original file.
