David Mount's "Bioinformatics". Good introductory text for biologists, and
it goes in-depth enough for you to be able to move to more
specific/advanced materials. Based on a course, it has a "coursebook feel"
which I like in introcuctory texts. Also, if you buy it, you can register
to a site on the web which has problems and supplementary material.
