==================================================================== 4th International Conference on Service Oriented Computing, Chicago, US, December 4-7, 2006 http://www.icsoc.org/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note the early registration deadline: November 1st, 2006. For registration and information on hotel reservation, please visit the conference Web site. ===================================================================== The 4th International Conference of Service Oriented Computing (ICSOC'06) follows on the success of three previous editions. ICSOC is recognized as the main conference for service-oriented computing research covering the entire spectrum from theoretical and foundational results, to empirical evaluations, to industrial experiences. ICSOC'06 is strengthening the links to two important communities, Software Engineering and Grid Computing with the participation of the leaders of these communities in key roles. This year, the Program Committee selected a high quality set of 34 long papers and 16 short papers from well over 200 research-track submissions. The industry track received more than 60 submissions, out of which only 9 full papers were selected. The industry track also features two invited vision papers that discuss the evolution of service-oriented computing. In order to provide a balanced coverage and equal emphasis on all service-oriented computing topics, the conference program committee included members representing six major areas. These include Business Service Modeling, Service Assembly, and Service Deployment and Management, covering research issues in the four primary service life-cycle phases: service modeling, assembly, deployment, and management. Additionally, the runtime architectural issues are covered by the SOA Runtime, and Quality of Service areas spanning all service life-cycle stages. Finally, the Grid Services area covers application of service oriented computing in managing infrastructural resources. ICSOC'06 features two outstanding keynote speeches from prominent researchers: Keynote 1: Service-Oriented Science Infrastructure Charles E. Catlett, Senior Fellow at the Argonne National Laboratory, Keynote 2: The Steady Path to Services-Oriented Computing Alfred Z. Spector, Independent Consultant. The ICSOC'06 program will include three half-day tutorials: Tutorial 1: Service Management, Chris Ward (IBM) and Claudio Bartolini (HP) Tutorial 2: Building Business Driven Grid Solutions Using Open Source Globus Software, Steve Tuecke (Univa) Tutorial 3: From Business Process Modeling with BPMN and BPDM to Business Process Execution with BPEL-* and SCA Pablo Irassar and Matthias Kloppmann (IBM) and, two panel discussions on "Open Problems and Research Challenges in Service Oriented Computing" (research track) and "Open Source: The Secret Sauce for the SOA Revolution?" (industry track). The program also includes two exciting workshops (scheduled for December 4th): Workshop 1: 2nd International Workshop on Engineering Service-Oriented Applications: Design and Composition http://fresco-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/wesoa06/ Workshop 2: Modeling the SOA Workshop - Business perspective and model mapping http://www.sysedv.tu-berlin.de/soam and a whole day PhD symposium aiming to bring together PhD researchers in the field. Additionally, a couple of birds-of-Feather (BOF) sessions are being planned by the Industrial Track to exchange ideas on important service oriented computing issues.
