Encryption: When we brought up the idea of Internet collaboratories that use Loci, some time ago, the topic of encryption came up. This may be important for corporations who want to protect their data (although The Open Lab opposes this, but it is nonetheless a desired feature). FreeS/WAN is GPL software for encrypted, secure (if there is such a thing) TCP/IP communication: http://www.xs4all.nl/~freeswan/ ssh and cvs: Does anyone know if and how cvs might use ssh? Justin is setting up ssh now. Mailing lists: I would like to make 3 mailing lists on theopenlab server, using Mailman. Each list will cover a large part of Loci, maybe several modules each: instruments (1 module, loci-instruments) inst-na1d inst-aa1d inst-aa2d inst-3d inst-phy imaging (3 modules) loci-slides loci-stages loci-ibuild infrastructure (4 modules) loci-servers loci-locusml (not mentioned last time) loci-wrappers loci-benchtop Whew! We've got a lot of work ahead :-) I will make a pipet-devel mailing list a bit later. For now, we will continue to use the one at UKansas (this one). Jeff -- J.W.
