Whew! I finally got my Linux box back on the Net! Damn Geoserve! Goodbye Windblows! I had to switch ISP's, but my e-mail will remain the same for a while. Anyway, this message is from Catherine Letondal, who is now on this list. I hope you don't mind me posting it. ----------------------------------------- Sorry to answer so late... I have indeed read the papers about Piper and found it very interesting (I have just subscribed to the mailing list). I'm doing a PhD on End-user programming, with an application to biology (http://www.pasteur.fr/~letondal/Papers/chi_pp.html). The main aim is to integrate programming facilities into the biologist's sequence analysis tools, at least at a scripting level (I'm using Xotcl, which is an object extension of Tcl http://www.xotcl.org). For this purpose, I'm developping a scriptable alignment editor and sequence analysis environment, where GUI components as well as functional components are accessible from the user interface. In other words, I'm interested into Open implementation and meta-object protocols ideas, as well as usability issues, with biologists actively participating to the design (http://www.pasteur.fr/~letondal/These/links-ihm.html). ----------------------------------------- Cheers.
