NME-1 (also known as nm-23) is a metastatsis-suppressor gene. Such genes produce proteins that reduce metastatic behavior of tumor cells without affecting their tumorigenic capacity.
NME-1 has nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) activity as well as serine autophosphorylation and histidine kinase activity.
