About this site..
The site was established and is maintained by the 'Microsatellite-Crew' , a group of PhD students at the University of Canterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) studying microsatellite evolution in various model organisms. The purpose was to establish an information/discussion forum for researchers working with microsatellites as well as a tool suite for software to detect and analyse microsatellites in genomic data. We feel there is a great need for such a platform as research with microsatellites involves a variety of areas from genetic mapping to DNA forensics, but intersections between those fields are rather limited.
