Arlindo Oliveira graduated from UC Berkeley in 1994, and is now a full professor at IST, and vice-chair of the departament of information systems and computer engineering. He is also director of INESC-ID and a senior researcher at the ALGOS/KDBIO group. His research interests include computer science, bioinformatics, string processing, combinatorial optimization, machine learning, information retrieval, logic synthesis and automata theory. He is author of more than 80 articles.
