Frankly there isn't a lot to do here, and I dont think I am jumping tho gun in saying that this has been a long time coming =D. I have set up the permission/timestamp preservation and created a repository that mirrors psgendb.

This needs to be tested. I have set up the " development version of birch" in getbirch to download this tarball. It should indicate in the log 'installing from git'.

Note the files '.git_cache_meta' and '.git_cache_time' accessible by viewing the head commit as a tree and viewing the files as blobs or raw text. These files store the time and permission data for each file, restored on a checkout. It is important that we verify that these values are correct.

Notably, there were some errors in creating the mirror of psgendb that are the result of me not having the permissions to read them. This is a relatively small list however, and may not be a deal breaker - I would feel more comfortable getting this fixed though. This is where a text mime attachment would be *great*... but instead I must point you to look at /home/psgendb/gitadd.log

Once this is verified to be in working state, we should have a phone/web conference or something to walk you and graham through the git bare bones basics. I will be back in 6 weeks, and this is probably done better in person in the machray lab.
