    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Specialist/Statistician/Software Engineer for cancer genomics @ Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School -- Singapore

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Work with a dynamic group of scientists focused on deciphering the causes of cancer and other human diseases (http://www.duke-nus.edu.sg/content/goh-liang-kee). You will be involved in the analysis of large dimensional data such as those from microarray and sequencing technology, ranging from genotypes, copy number, gene expression, and epigenetics. You will be expected to perform quantitative analyses and modeling on the data and provide bioinformatics support for ongoing projects. We do our work on a high-performance Linux compute cluster (currently 20 12-CPU nodes) using perl, R, and off-the-shell academic bioinformatics software.

    This position offers technical variety in terms of development/bioinformatics/statistical tools and quantitative/programming goals. It also offers the opportunity to work on lightweight, cutting-edge technology in which your efforts will immediately benefit biomedical research.     REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, applied statistics or equivalent programming experience (formal training beyond bachelor's degree preferred)
    • Strong programming skills in Perl, R, or Matlab
    • Outstanding communication in English
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Technical resourcefulness
    • Enthusiasm for ongoing self-education in statistics and concepts in molecular and cancer biology
    • Familiarity with the Linux/Unix development environment
