    Opportunity: Senior Data Warehouse Developer/Lead (HIS) (#1251) @ Social & Scientific Systems -- Silver Spring, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    The Sr. Data Warehouse Developer/Lead within SSS's Health Information Systems Group will be developing and leading Data Integration and Data Architecture Solutions using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 BI Toolset. You will be working closely with Health Services customers to design, develop, and implement data warehouse and business intelligence applications which will enable customers to make program and policy decisions in the Health Services area. You will develop database solutions to include database design and modeling, relational and dimensional architecture, metadata and repository creation. Introduce modern data mapping, data mining and data transformation tools to design and develop efficient solutions. Analyze current technologies and trends as it relates to Health Research Data.

    The ideal candidate must be willing to work in a highly collaborative approach, managing multiple competing priorities and assignments. The candidate must have strong technical background and be current on modern technologies to act in a solution architect role for health care data integration.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create and review database designs, ETL procedures and data analysis deliverables
    • Integrate data from multiple source systems into Data Warehouse, cleansing data, transforming and loading data
    • Develop, optimize, maintain and support ETL processes using stored procedures and data integration tools such as Microsoft SSIS
    • Create Data Warehouse components, including Data Marts, Operational Data Stores, and OLAP Cube databases using Microsoft SSAS
    • Support data testing and production issues resolution on newly developed or existing ETL processes
    • Develop technical, architecture, process, methodology, and tool approaches for health data related client solutions and proposals
    • Support strategic business initiatives by researching, analyzing and interpreting health data from multiple sources to create useful datasets
    • Research new technology for potential application to SSS and/or clients. Keeps abreast of current trends related to data technologies
    • Work with Senior Management to map ideas to feasible client solutions
    • Drive effective teamwork, communication and collaboration to achieve results
    • Develop a strong understanding of the business, Strategic direction, organizational structure and overall business goals

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required Skills:
    • Solid presentation skills when meeting with internal and external clients
    • Prior Staff Management experience a plus
    • Exhibit clear verbal and written communication skills
    Required Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with at least 10 years of related experience
    • Minimum 5+ years' experience implementing MS SQL BI/Analytics Solutions
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical lead role having led the technical direction of projects.
    • Experience in Health Data Services reporting a huge plus
    • Expert level understanding of Microsoft SQL Server components Microsoft Integration Services(SSIS), Microsoft Analysis Services(SSAS) & Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Proven Data Warehouse design/deployment experience using Star/Snowflake Schemas, reporting and analytics for enterprise Data Warehouse implementations
    • Hands-on experience developing logical and physical data models.
    • Hands-on experience with modern ETL tools and processes
    • Hands-on experience with modern BI reporting tools
    • Knowledge of SAS Data Integration is a huge plus.
    • Experience with Data Visualization tools like Cognos, Pentaho etc. a huge plus
    • Strong experience monitoring and tuning queries and data loads, addressing user questions concerning data integrity.
    • Experience with data quality issues and remediation, data flows and mapping.
    • Knowledge of health data standards and architectures a huge plus.
