DESCRIPTION

2-3 bioinformatics postdoctoral positions are now immediately open at the Discovery Informatics and Computing Group (http://bio.informatics.iupui.edu) at Indiana University School of Informatics, located at the IU-Purdue Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.

REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate should have a recent PhD degree in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or other related computational sciences. The candidate must have relevant R&D experience and publication records in at least one of the following focused areas: MS-based proteomics, functional genomics and gene regulatory networks, network biology, large-scale data management and visualization, large-scale software and statistical programming, algorithm design, structural genomics, molecular screening, semantic web, multi-scale systems modeling, statistical machine learning, disease pathway modeling, and computational systems biology.


These openings represent rare opportunities for talented individuals to prepare for research-oriented careers in systems biology, with specific focus on using informatics, statistical, and computational techniques to solve disease biology problems through biomarker discovery, drug discovery, and clinical research translations. The work involves supervised postdoctoral research in highly-focused areas, with committed funding from the National Center Institute Clinical Proteomics Program, IU School of Informatics, and IU Lung Cancer Working Group. Research collaboration with private companies in central Indiana may also exist. Collectively, these opportunities present excellent advanced career opportunities in the Academia or the industry for motivated individuals.
