BACKGROUND
Dow AgroSciences LLC, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, is a top-tier agricultural company that combines the power of science and technology with the "Human Element" to constantly improve what is essential to human progress. Dow AgroSciences provides innovative technologies for crop protection, pest and vegetation management, seeds, traits, and agricultural biotechnology to serve the world's growing population. Global sales for Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, are $4.5 billion.
Dow AgroSciences seeks 7 summer interns in the fields of bioinformatics or computational biology to assist in the analyses of biological datasets. These positions are located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants should have or be pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer sciences, statistics, mathematics, engineering or a closely related field.
- The successful candidates will work closely with scientists from Dow AgroSciences’ Computational Biology Department.
- Key job responsibilities will include extensive development of software to implement robust data analyses’ pipelines and to integrate and analyze ‘omics’ datasets.
- Experience in programming (Perl and R) and basic sequence analyses tools (e.g BioPerl, command line BLAST) are required.
- Strong communication skills are essential along with an ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory, field, and computational biology scientists.
PREFERENCES
- Experience in next generation sequence analyses or microarray data analyses is preferred.
