[ghemical-devel] Ghemical Static Binaries

I was curious if anyone has done any work towards making a static binary of 
ghemical?  I must admit my work with autoconf / automake is a bit limited 
but i haven't been able to find a simple way to tell it to compile 
statically.  My purpose in wanting to do so is to be able to distribute 
ghemical to students without some of the issues that arise when linking 
statically.  Any help would be appreciated.
