What about the cutting edge?

Use of Open Source system software and application software provides benefits through a lower cost structure, but perhaps more importantly by providing a strategic edge at the forefront of technology. We can use this argument to help justify the cost of validation...seeing as we will have to do most of it ourselves without vendor support.
