    On some Linux systems, neither birchdb nor lbirchdb will launch:

    This problem appears to have been encountered before in Bug 1139. However, it looks like the fix got incorporated into
    tbirchdb.sh, but not into the other birchdb scripts, which
    are now python scripts. So those scripts need to be fixed.
