    Opportunity: Editorial Biocurator @ Nature Publishing Group -- London, UK

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Nature Publishing Group (NPG) is looking for an Editorial Biocurator to be responsible for curating content from a variety of life science domains for Scientific Data. Scientific Data is a new open-access, online-only publication for descriptions of scientifically valuable datasets and is designed to foster data sharing and reuse http://www.nature.com/scientificdata.

    Reporting to the Managing Editor the Editorial Curator will be responsible for establishing curation criteria, maintaining the consistency and quality of curated information and for managing and developing scalable workflows, tools and processes for the content curation. This position offers the unique opportunity to set biocuration practices and work with colleagues to further develop Scientific Data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants will likely be life science graduate, with a master's or doctoral degree in related discipline, or in computer science/bioinformatics. Experience of working with high-throughput data and a sound knowledge of minimal information requirements, exchange formats and terminologies/ontologies (e.g. ISA-Tab) are required and previous experience working as a biocurator is highly sought. Knowledge and experiences of relational databases, XML, RDF Linked Data, SPARQL is desirable but not required

    The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be able to identify and solve problems and posses strong interpersonal skill. They will need to be self motivated, resourceful and have a proven ability to organize their time and meet deadlines along with being an active team player.

    LOCALE

    The position is located in our London office and is offered on a full-time basis.
