    BACKGROUND

    Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology (Kleinstein Lab) is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics programmer to support collaborative projects in the general area of computational immunology. The successful candidate will work in a highly dynamic team environment to develop and apply bioinformatics methods in support of a diverse array of studies. The candidate will be expected to work independently, interact directly with experimental and clinical collaborators, and be able to work on multiple projects to meet deadlines.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Numerous technologies are currently utilized and the candidate will participate in the selection, evaluation and development of new computational analysis methods to best suit the needs of each project. Strong quantitative and programming abilities are required, along with a demonstrated interest in applying these skills to problems in biology.

    PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

    • Masters or Ph.D. degree (Bioinformatics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or related field).
    • Expertise in carrying out bioinformatics analysis using in one or more of the following areas: gene expression analysis (microarray or RNA-Seq), promoter/cis-regulatory analysis, pathway analysis, unsupervised and supervised learning, sequence analysis
    • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix
    • Three years of relevant programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Python, C/C++, Java, R, Matlab
    • Experience developing web and database applications (e.g., JavaScript, PHP, SQL)
    • Experience in managing large datasets
