BACKGROUND

Position requires previous bioinformatics training, with emphasis in metagenomics and next-generation DNA sequencing data (HiSeq/MiSeq preferred). Current projects include characterizing the ancestral state of the human metagenomics using extraordinary biological samples from traditional indigenous communities, non-human primates, and archaeological "ancient" materials. RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include analysis of human meta-genomic data, writing manuscripts for peer reviewed publications, and applying for grants. Teaching opportunities may be negotiated if interested.

REQUIREMENTS

Position requires previous bioinformatics training, with emphasis in metagenomics and next-generation DNA sequencing data (HiSeq/MiSeq preferred). Experience with languages R and Python are expected.

TERMS

Earliest start date: July 1, 2013.

LOCALE

Norman, Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma's Molecular Anthropology Laboratories: Our labs are located in the SRTC (http://srtc.ou.edu/index.php), a new building with several research groups working in environmental genomics (e.g., http://ieg.ou.edu) and genome sequencing (e.g., http://www.genome.ou.edu). Our building also houses part of OSCER, OU's supercomputer (http://www.oscer.ou.edu). In 2008, CNN/Money Magazine ranked Norman as the sixth best small city within the United States.

COMPENSATION

Salary: 60K plus fringe.
