    The Genomic Sequencing and Analysis Facility at The University of Texas at Austin is accepting applications for Research Associate – Bioinformatician for an on-campus position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Consult, analyze, implement and support tools to ensure that experiments and clinical studies from a broad array of applications are correctly designed and analyzed within the Genomic Sequencing and Analysis Facility of TI3D.

    REQUIREMENTS

    PhD in computational biology or closely related field. Proficiency with UNIX/Linux with some combination of such languages as Perl, Python, Java/J2EE, C, C++ and extensive knowledge of relational databases, schemas and SQL queries. Demonstrated technical expertise in general areas of bioinformatics including sequence similarity search methods and DNA sequence assembly and their application in biology. Ability to define problems, design studies to resolve problems, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret results and analyses to ensure validity of conclusions. Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    PREFERENCES

    3 years of post-degree experience. Additional background in biostatistics and classification strongly preferred.

    COMPENSATION

    $4,166+ per month depending on qualifications
