RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the Berkeley Center for Structural Biology (BCSB), the Career-Track Research Scientist will provide technical and scientific support for users at the BCSB sector 5 beamlines at the Advanced Light Source. Ensure that beamlines are maintained in an optimal working state, including: providing daily quality control on beamline startups, maintaining and providing up-to-date training on beamline procedures, overseeing regular maintenance of beamline equipment, and developing alignment and tuning scripts. Work closely with other BCSB staff and users to determine beamline upgrade needs; lead instrumentation and software projects accordingly. Participate in protein crystallography projects involving the structure determination of biological molecules.
