    BACKGROUND

    Takeda Cambridge (UK) is a drug discovery company specialising in identifying and validating innovative drug targets. Worldwide, Takeda develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of pharmaceutical products and strives towards better health for patients worldwide through leading innovation in medicine.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Bioinformatician based in our Cambridge, UK facility. The role involves:
    • Analysis of high-throughput gene expression data sets based on micro-array or next generation sequencing platforms, including use of systems approaches.
    • Working with senior biologists to incorporate public domain bioinformatics data into our target selection process.
    • Conducting ad-hoc bioinformatics analyses in support of internal projects including internal and public domain expression data, association studies, known variants, orthology relationships, pathway and network analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The ideal candidate is likely to have a relevant MSc or PhD, experience of working in bioinformatics and a strong record of creativity. You will possess excellent technical informatics and applied statistics skills and will have experience of relevant technologies such as Perl, R, Bioconductor, SQL, Linux, microarray analysis, next generation sequencing and public domain bioinformatics data sets.

    Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with our scientists in support of our research projects.
