Education: Introductory synthetic biology courses scheduled for London and Cambridge
Submitted by Kate Wildauer; posted on Monday, September 02, 2013
SynBioBeta has launched two new opportunities to attend courses to explore the theory, basics and possibilities of synthetic biology. This growing new field offers potential technological solutions to the most challenging problems of the 21st century.
These one day introductory courses are aimed at individuals who are interested in synthetic biology but have not taken biology since high school or don't know how a gene relates to a protein.
This course, recently offered and filled in San Francisco, received excellent reviews. It will be offered in New York and again in the San Francisco area in the Fall. Today, we are announcing course dates in September for London and Cambridge.
Each of these courses provides a one-day interactive class for teaching synthetic biology to non-experts. The course is written for tech-professionals in other fields such as computer science, to learn about the growing power of biology to perform useful tasks and make high value products from drugs to spiders silk. We focus on analyzing the similarities and differences in our fields of study to make these lessons accessible, inspirational, and memorable.
While both classes are suitable for beginners, the Cambridge course focuses on individuals with a computer science background while the London class is offered to a more general audience.
If you are interested in exploring the possibilities within the field of synthetic biology, please consider applying for a seat at our Synthetic Biology for Computer Programmers course at IdeaSpace West in Cambridge on Friday, the 20th of September, 2013 or our Introduction to Synthetic Biology course at the Monticello House in London on Thursday, the 19th of September, 2013.
