    DESCRIPTION

    The Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2014, or as soon as possible thereafter.

    The successful candidate must have a PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline by the commencement date of the appointment, have demonstrated competence in teaching, and evidence of strong potential for developing and sustaining a program of externally funded research in one of the areas described in the following paragraph.

    We are primarily seeking candidates with research expertise in one of the areas of Bioinformatics, Data Management/Security, or Mobile Computing, but will also consider outstanding candidates in other areas of Computer Science.

    Duties will include undergraduate teaching and graduate teaching and supervision, research, and service-related activities.

    The Department currently has 21 full-time tenure-track faculty members and 6 full-time instructors, and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs, including cooperative programs. We currently have approximately 80 graduate students and 380 undergraduate major and honours students. There are a total of approximately 29,000 students at the University of Manitoba.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A Faculty of Science startup research grant will be awarded to all newly appointed faculty members.
