Opportunity: Senior Statistician (#1193) @ Social & Scientific Systems -- Silver Spring, MD (US)
Submitted by Molly Assion; posted on Thursday, October 31, 2013
BACKGROUND
Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS) is seeking a Senior Statistician to lead an experienced team of statisticians, bioinformaticians, biomathematicians, epidemiologists and statistical programmers. Our work is broadly motivated by questions about how environmental exposures adversely affect human health and has a long-term goal of reducing the burden of human disease and disability. Our approach is to collaborate closely with our clients to achieve a clear understanding of their scientific questions and to translate those questions into efficient study designs, informative data analyses and peer-reviewed publications. We accomplish this by fostering a high level of technical achievement for each team member in a mutually respectful professional environment. This position includes a broad range of quantitative approaches to modeling systematic effects and characterizing sources of stochastic variation in environmental, biological and clinical data. The analytical challenges range from molecular analyses of designed experiments with model organisms to observational studies of clinical characteristics in human populations. We develop and fit mathematical models to facilitate data interpretation and to facilitate communication with our collaborators and contribute to peer-reviewed literature. Our analytical experience includes high and low dimensional data with measurements ranging from the expression level of genes to the population prevalence of clinical attributes.
