Opportunity: Training Coordinator for Research Science -- ELIXIR-UK, MRC Functional Genomics Unit @ University of Oxford -- Oxford, UK

BACKGROUND
We are looking for an experienced Training Coordinator for Research Science for ELIXIR-UK, the UK-based node of ELIXIR.
ELIXIR-UK is taking a pan-European lead in training research and computer scientists in statistics, biology and computing. Its mission is to plug the current skills gap in biological data management, analysis and interpretation. Coordinated by the University of Oxford and linking to Universities and Institutes across the UK, ELIXIR-UK adopts a multi-agency approach to meeting the training needs of postdoctoral and mid-career scientists in academia and industry by leveraging internationally-recognised UK expertise in the biomedical, bioscience and environmental sectors (http://www.elixir-europe.org).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Based in the MRC Functional Genomics Unit at the University of Oxford, The Training Coordinator for Research Science will take the lead in developing and implementing the ELIXIR-UK long-term strategic plan with regard to UK based training. S/he will provide a consultancy service for UK-based institutions and individuals interested in providing training on ELIXIR activities, serving as a facilitator for sharing experience among institutions involved in training.
REQUIREMENTS
With a PhD in a biological subject area, the Training Coordinator for Research Science will have knowledge of biological data interpretation and experience of delivering scientific training activities. Experience of engaging with industrial partners, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to travel will also be required.
TERMS
This full-time position is available from January 2014 and is funded by BBSRC, MRC and NERC for 36 months.
LOCALE
The MRC Functional Genomics Unit (FGU) at the University of Oxford is a strategic alliance between the MRC and the University of Oxford. The FGU is embedded within the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics and, from 1 July 2013 became a fully integrated University Unit.
The FGU offers excellent computational and laboratory facilities in the recently-opened Henry Wellcome Building of Gene Function. Additional information about the Unit can be found at http://www.mrcfgu.ox.ac.uk.
COMPENSATION
University grade 8: Salary in the range GBP 37,382 - GBP 42,055 p.a. (1% pay award pending)
