_big_ plusses are given to those candidates who:
- have a wide molecular/cellular biology knowledge-base (including the ability to interpret molecular/cellular biology experiment results)
- have demonstrable creativity
- algorithm development (ie. the ability to create new analysis tools/methods where existing ones fail to suffice)
- can be "up and running" immediately in a bioinformatics analysis environment. for example, if someone gave you a dna/protein sequence (perhaps incomplete) and asked you to postulate a function for the gene it encodes (or if it does), you should be able to know exactly what tools you'd need to use, what databases to query, what questions to ask that would give an advantage to a bench-level scientist. the ability to communicate your results to the bench-level scientist is also required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a challenging senior role in our Bioinformatics group. The role of this position will involve:
- Scripting and analyzing sequence and structural similarity searches.
- Engineering creative approaches to genomic sequence annotation and data mining.
- Collaborating with other Bioinformatics scientists in Expression Profiling and Proteomic analysis.
- Collaborating with Molecular/Cellular biologists in extended analysis projects.
A strong scientific background (Ph.D. with 2yrs postdoctoral experience, or more than 4 years demonstrated industry experience in the areas listed above), knowledge of UNIX, Perl, and Java. Formal training in Computer Science (BS or MS), and experience with relational databases is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to participate in multiple concurrent projects are essential.
