We are looking for a highly extroverted bioinformatics scientist to provide product demos for prospects, train clients around the world both via webinar and in-person meetings, and serve as a company representative at workshops, industry events and conferences. Job Description:
As a member of our Services team eighty percent of your time will be spent as a Field Application Scientist (FAS) to provide product training for new customers and product demos for prospective clients via webinar and occasional on-site visits. Keeping abreast of the latest developments in statistical genetics and emerging genomic fields, including sequencing technology and statistical applications, you will have the opportunity to help generate content for white papers, posters, presentations and other internal and external uses. You will have the opportunity to serve as a company representative at industry events and conferences and assist with implementation and evaluation of novel analytic methods in GHI's software products.
You will also have the opportunity to perform data analysis functions for our analytic services customers, including SNP and CNV GWAS, experimental design, DNA-seq and RNA-seq analysis projects. You will interact directly with customers to interpret, document and present results, and may also have the opportunity for manuscript authorship.REQUIREMENTS
- Masters Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field. A Bachelors Degree with 3+ years experience either analyzing GWAS or NGS data or as a Biotech FAS/Sales Engineer will be accepted in lieu of a Masters Degree.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills (must read, write and speak fluent English).
- Must enjoy talking with people and have experience teaching or providing technical demonstrations/training.
- Hands-on experience analyzing GWAS or NGS data using any commercial or open-source bioinformatics software tools is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of general statistics applications (especially R) and using scripting languages such as Python helpful.
- Experience utilizing regression, linear models and non-parametric statistics in research settings helpful.
- Fast learner with excellent "troubleshooting" abilities.
- Must live on the east coast (DC, Massachusetts, eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, etc) and be able to successfully work as a telecommute employee from your home office.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- Must love nerds. Or better yet, be one!
