Opportunity: Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer @ Fluidigm -- South San Francisco, CA (US)

BACKGROUND
Fluidigm Corporation, based in South San Francisco, CA, is a cutting-edge biotechnology company that develops and manufactures complete systems based on its patented microfluidic valve technology. The newly launched Single-Cell AutoPrep System enables our customers to rapidly and reliably isolate, process and profile individual cells for genomic analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fluidigm Corporation seeks an outstanding individual to join a vibrant interdisciplinary group of scientists and engineers to develop single cell analysis, sequencing, genotyping, and gene expression products.
Duties:
- Develop and maintain analysis software, pipelines, web-portals, and algorithms for Single Cell Research.
- Design and implement software architectures for high performance computing for large genomic data.
- Perform basic and advanced analysis on data generated from next generation sequencing platforms. The analysis will include but not limited to sequence alignment, variant calling and annotation, RNA expression and differential analysis.
REQUIREMENTS
- M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics or related fields.
- 8+ years working experience in software development for Bioinformatics and Statistical analysis.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive development experience in Unix/Linux, Perl, Python, R and MySQL.
- Extensive experience with NGS technologies, sequence analysis tools, and public biological databases.
- Good understanding statistics and bioinformatic algorithms.
- Experience in C++, object-oriented design and cloud-computing is strong plus.
- Highly self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, thorough and detail-orientated.
