    OVERVIEW

    As a postdoctoral fellow in Cheminformatics you will be working at the interface of computational biology and computational chemistry developing and applying methods to propose testable hypotheses of drug mechanism of action, secondary pharmacology and adverse effects. This work will be done in partnership with experienced computational scientists and experimentalists.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Developing, deploying and publishing computational methods focused on gaining a better understanding of how compounds interact with biological targets and how interacting with those targets perturbs biological systems
    • Strong emphasis on leveraging external linked data with internal data to solve specific questions of drug mechanism of action and drug safety
    • Utilization of the developed methods for biological target identification and compound design

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education Requirement:
    • PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacology, Computational Biology, or related field by May 2014. Required Experience and Skills:
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computational chemistry, cheminformatics and computational biology methods
    • Advanced knowledge of data-mining, machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
    • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical discovery process Preferred Experience and Skills:
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team based environment
    • Strong communication skills as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and scientific meeting presentations
    • Track record of innovative research combining methods from multiple sources to solve complex problems
