BACKGROUND
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to work on the identification of rare variants and characterize the epigenetic profiling from asthma patients to integrate the changes in relationship with asthma and allergic condition. This is a joint research program with UQAC (Dr Catherine Laprise) and McGill University (Dr Tomi Pastinen) providing a unique training ground for a driven young scientist with exposure to carefully ascertained disease cohorts, new analytical approaches, and state-of-the-art genomics infrastructure. Our preliminary results provide strong indication that new risk factors will be discovered yielding insight to the pathogenesis of asthma and offer an original approach to investigate the genetic basis of frequent disorders.
The research program is supported by different sources of funding for five years. The successful candidate will be encouraged to produce high-impact publications to support future grant application proposals arising from this project.REQUIREMENTS
The position requires prior experience in analyses of large-scale, next-generation sequencing datasets. Applicants should have a PhD degree in relevant fields and also the enthusiasm and motivation for bioinformatics and working in a multidisciplinary area.PREFERENCES
Furthermore, applicants with prior experience in statistical analyses in the context of disease gene identification and/or quantitative traits are prioritized.TERMS
This position is supported for the first year (standardized with postdoctorate awards). The successful applicant will be encouraged to apply for their own funding in the following years.LOCALE
