The right candidate will serve as key driver of developing and improving processes related to variant evaluation and classification while working as part of cross-functional teams composed of bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular diagnostics experts.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical capability expected:
- Education (PhD) and experience in a quantitative field (for example, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or Statistics, or a related discipline), or commensurate experience with a proven ability to function in a role with independent responsibility.
- Experience in Population Genetics or Statistics within a biotech/pharma/diagnostic environment (i.e. non-academic environment).
- Excellent working knowledge of popular bioinformatics tools, both commercial offerings and open source research tools; such as: UCSC Genome Browser, PolyPhen, Samtools, VCF, Genome Analysis Toolkit, ANNOVAR, Integrated Genome Viewer.
- Experience and comfort applying statistical techniques to high-throughput data sets is strongly desired.
- Experience in analyzing next-generation DNA sequencing data, a plus.
- Desire to work as part of a small, inter-disciplinary, and collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
- Solid communications skills – both written and oral – adapted appropriately for the audience.
