    Opportunity: UI/UX Developer (#1220) @ Social & Scientific Systems -- Silver Spring, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. (SSS), a company dedicated to improving public health around the world, is looking for a UI/UX Developer within our Health Information Sciences Group who will be responsible for the execution and delivery of UI design and code artifacts to support internal and external client projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining UI code for web-based and mobile applications using modern UI practices. This person will also be responsible for creative end-to-end solutions through, but not limited to, static and prototype wireframes, sitemaps, use-case scenarios, user workflows, visual design, front-end UI development.

    You will be working closely with software developers, solution architects and end clients in a collaborative environment. You will work in a structured manner following SDLC processes like CMMI, Agile and SCRUM practices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Own and lead UI/UX design and 508 standards compliance for web sites.
    • Articulate ideas through mockups, prototypes for proof-of-concept, discussion and usability testing
    • Design and implement UI using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Ajax
    • Create appealing themes and graphics appropriate for the target audience
    • Build UI that works across modern browsers (multiple versions) and also on various screen sizes/devices.
    • Work closely with software developers to create wireframes that adhere to 508 standards compliant web sites
    • Act as a lead User Information Architect/Usability Expert on multiple projects
    • Work with Senior Management to map ideas to feasible software solutions
    • Drive effective teamwork, communication and collaboration to achieve results

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with at least 8+ years of related experience
    • Minimum 5+ years' experience as UI developer, an information architect, or user experience professional
    • Experience working in a federal consulting firm environment is preferred.
    • Able to facilitate with clients to clarify overall solutions, goals and objectives
    • Exhibit clear oral and written communication skills
    • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with HTML (4/5), CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and XML
    • Proficiency in design prototyping tools such as Axure or Balsamiq
    • Proficiency in graphical design tools such as Adobe Photoshop
    • CMS experience e.g., Drupal / Wordpress a huge plus
    • Working knowledge of ASP.NET, PHP Server-side pages
    • Working knowledge of Visual Studio and similar IDEs
    • Experience in designing systems that meets Federal regulatory requirements for Accessibility (508) and overall best practices for user experience.
