Opportunity: Bioinformatician Next Generation Sequencing @ Functional Genomics Center -- Zurich, Switzerland

BACKGROUND
The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is a joint interdisciplinary research and training center of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. The FGCZ acts as a core facility for next generation sequencing and powers the scientific research of life at the DNA and RNA level with data and insights. The FGCZ Genome Informatics group ensures management, processing and analysis of the high-throughput NGS data in close collaboration with researchers and technicians. We rely on open source software and establish state-of-the-art data analysis concepts to satisfy the demands of the user community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will contribute to our software environment and provide customised data analysis for research projects.
REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking a bioinformatician with very good software engineering skills. The ideal candidate is highly communicative, team-oriented and can interact efficiently with research and technical staff. She/he is service-oriented and ready to keep up with the constant developments in the field. Advanced knowledge of English is essential as this is the working language of the center; knowledge of German is helpful. The candidate needs to have working experience with GNU/Linux operating system and the development of web applications. She/he has an in-depth knowledge of python and/or R. Knowledge of web programming and/or cluster computing is considered as a plus.
TERMS
Full-time position, starting immediately or upon agreement. Working place is the Functional Genomics Center in Zurich, Switzerland. Financing and employment conditions for this position are according to the regulations of the University of Zurich.
