    BACKGROUND

    Computercraft seeks a highly motivated Biologist to join the BioSample and BioProject curation team onsite at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. BioSample and BioProject are public databases that store descriptive information about the data stored in companion sequence databases (for more information, see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK153516/).

    The successful candidate will help review and process incoming submissions to the BioSample and BioProject databases and will have a background in biology, genomics, or biomedicine.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Communicate extensively with researchers, resolving issues relating to submission procedures, formats, content, and site navigation
    • Review and evaluate data submissions for structural integrity and content
    • Troubleshoot data flow issues and test new database features

    REQUIREMENTS

    • M.Sc in biology or related field
    • Excellent general computer skills, including familiarity with spreadsheets
    • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
    • Practical experience with curation and/or genomic data is highly desirable but not required to apply
