Opportunity: Bioinformatics Programmer and Applications Specialist @ New York University -- New York, NY (US)

BACKGROUND
A position is available for an experienced bioinformatics programmer and applications specialist in the Genomics Core of the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, New York University. The Genomics Core provides access to and expertise in next-generation sequencing and other genomics technology for faculty in the Department of Biology and at NYU's Washington Square campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for addressing the bioinformatics needs of the Genomics Core facility. This will include ensuring the successful processing, storage, and delivery of data from next generation sequencing runs, and responding to requests from researchers for bioinformatics analysis of data. Strong computational abilities to manipulate large datasets are essential as well as a working knowledge and expertise in certain well-known bioinformatics applications. The applicant will be working as part of a team-based effort to support the research and teaching of the Center, and opportunities exist to attend annual next-generation sequencing conferences as well as being part of /undertaking research projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have:
- A detailed knowledge of next generation sequence data analysis
- An ability to work with an interdisciplinary team
- Good spoken and written English

The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology is located in historic Greenwich Village in downtown Manhattan, New York City. NYU is one of the world's leading research universities and CGSB is housed in a new state-of-the-art facility.
