    Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading San Diego based Biotechnology Company, is seeking a candidate for Post-doctoral Fellow.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with computational systems team to develop novel tools for the bioinformatics analysis of GPCRs and their expression
    • Develop and maintain bioinformatics databases for use by discovery scientists

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or related discipline

    Experience:
    • Experience processing, analyzing, and modeling large biological datasets
    • Experience developing and applying new approaches to integrate genomic and expression datasets
    Specific Skills:
    • Demonstrated programming expertise (e.g., Python, C++, Java)
    • Experience with an existing bioinformatics toolset (e.g., bioclipse, biopython) is a strong plus
    • Experience with database programming (e.g., Oracle, MySQL), and a demonstrated ability to create data visualization tools is a strong plus
    • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and able to communicate efficiently team members

    Department: Computational Systems

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None

    Physical Demands/Work Environment: 90% of job spent sitting
