Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Research Fellow for Dr. Abryzov in the Health Science Department. Qualified candidates will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications. The research fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary, one to three year position whose project choice will depend on the applicant's interest and skills but requires that the research be purely computational. Potential computational biology fields include: individual/population human omics, cancer omics, single cell analysis, somatic mosaicism, and the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. Specific sub-areas of interest are discovery and the functional annotation of human genomic variants such as SNPs, SNVs, indels, structural variations, retrotranspositions, etc. Oral and written proficiency in English is also a big plus.
The ideal applicant will have a Ph.D. in computational biology or bioinformatics combined with experience in one of the aforementioned research areas. He/She should also be skilled in programming and using computers to solve problems (e.g. C++/Java, Python/Perl, R/ROOT, etc.).
