BACKGROUND

Our team of attorneys, registered patent agents, students and technical specialists include some of the country's most respected practitioners of intellectual property law. Most of our professionals hold an advanced level degree, including more than 60 with a doctorate in science or engineering – credentials wide and deep enough to fill the faculty of a science-oriented university.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bioinformatics/Computational Biology Technical Specialist/Patent Agent will work side by side with lawyers to prepare and defend patent applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and counsel clients on how best to protect their intellectual property. Your clients will be research labs, universities, major corporations, inventors, non-profits, and USPTO officials. You will interview inventors, prepare patent applications, respond to inquiries from the USPTO about aspects of new technologies or products, and perform infringement or prior art analysis once a patent is issued. Once your skills grow, you will be given additional ownership and responsibility. Don't worry if you don't know how to do any of the above. You bring your scientific expertise and we'll train you on the rest.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have a PhD in bioinformatics or computational biology.
