BACKGROUND
Eli Lilly and Company is a world leading pharmaceutical organization and a premier provider in the discovery, development manufacturing and marketing of a broad range of pharmaceutical products. We have an exciting opportunity for a contract scientist to join the global Computational Chemistry and Cheminformatics group, working at our UK research facility in Windlesham, Surrey.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide computational chemistry and cheminformatics support for on-going projects
- Participate in the development of computational approaches to analyze and model protein-protein interactions
- Participate in the development of chemocentric approaches to disease networks
- Develop workflows/scripts to facilitate the visualization of scientific data
REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. in computational chemistry / bioinformatics/ medicinal chemistry / computer sciences or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in applying computational chemistry and/or cheminformatics methods in drug discovery
- Expertise in biological pathway and network analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively collaborating in multidisciplinary environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and scientific creativity are essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills are required as is the ability to effectively communicate across cultures in a global scientific community
- Programming skills (Perl, Python, Pipelining) preferred
PREFERENCES
- Hands on experience in large scale data analysis in bioinformatics and proteomics
- Experience with designing and interpreting the results of gene expression, RNAi experiments and phenotypic screens in the context of biological networks.
- Background in synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry
