    BACKGROUND

The Regulatory Genomics Laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Muenster, Germany is offering Postdoctoral Positions (position code 16-2014) in Epigenetics and Computational Biology.

The Laboratory, headed by Juan M Vaquerizas, seeks to appoint highly motivated scientists to work on computational analyses of genome organisation and evolution. In particular, the successful candidate will analyse genome-wide gene expression and chromatin binding datasets to investigate how gene expression is controlled to determine cellular fate during embryonic development and tissue differentiation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The specific tasks will include:
    • Analysis of RNA-seq, GRO-seq and ribo-tagged RNA preparations.
    • Analysis of protein-DNA interactions using ChIP-seq
    • Analysis of chromatin-chromatin interactions using Hi-C
    • Development of computational algorithms to integrate different sources of genomic data

    REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for enthusiastic and talented Postdoctoral Fellows with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, (bio)-statistics, mathematics, or related fields, and with a strong drive to excel in a highly international and collaborative environment. Previous experience in genome-wide data analysis (eg, RNA-seq or ChIP-seq) will be a significant advantage. Please make sure that you specify your level of proficiency in dealing with genomics data in your cover letter.

    TERMS

The positions are on fixed-term appointments for two years with the possibility of further extension following a successful evaluation. The earliest starting date for the position is 1 Nov 2014.

    LOCALE

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine offers a highly international and stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities for genomics, proteomics and cell biology. The Institute is located in Muenster (http://www.muenster.de/en/), one of the European Green Capitals and former UN's `The World's Most Liveable City' awardee. Extra administrative help will be available for foreign scientists. English is the working language in the Institute.

    HOW TO APPLY

Applications should be sent as a single pdf file by email to career[at]mpi-muenster.mpg.de by 1 October 2014 at the latest. These should include a full CV, statements of past (PhD Thesis) and future research plans, the contact details of two academic referees (one of them being your PhD advisor) and the position-code 16-2014. For informal queries, please contact Juan M Vaquerizas at jmv[at]mpi-muenster.mpg.de
