    BACKGROUND

    Since entering the market in the year 2000 GeneArt has become one of the worldwide leading specialists in gene synthesis and synthetic biology. GENEART provides the key technologies for the development and production of new medicines, services for the improvement of proteins (e.g. industrial enzymes, antibodies) or to construct cells for complex biological processes (e.g. bio-factories for the production or degradation of (bio-)polymers).     Thermo Fisher is currently recruiting for a talented International Team Leader Bioinformatics (Synthetic Biology) for our location either in Regensburg, Germany or Carlsbad, California.

    In the global context of Thermo Fisher Scientific we develop specific software solutions for the synthetic biology division. These innovative IT solutions are developed in internal collaborations as well as in close co-operations with external research groups.

    To support these efforts and to lead this global team, we are now searching for a team-leader for Bioinformatics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • You will be head of a team with members in Regensburg, Carlsbad and Singapore and will be leading the further development of our desktop tools as well as web-based tools.
    • You will be involved in global R&D for Synthetic Biology and will work closely with colleagues in Science and Product Management.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 2+ of professional experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
    • BS Degree (or higher) in Informatics or Bioinformatics.
    • Sound basic knowledge of Molecular Biology / Bioinformatics.
    • Strong knowledge of Java, .NET and Cloud Computing as well as of modern software technologies / programming languages.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Experience working in an international work environment and leading diverse teams.
