RESPONSIBILITIES
Works independently or as part of a team on the development of databases, software applications and/or on the application of existing tools to support scientific projects. Strong knowledge of resources available online (databases, applications) as well as intra-mural resources. Strong knowledge of the methods that are used to solve domain specific problems. Utilizes scientific best practices when implementing, applying data analysis methods and interpreting the results of data analysis. Contributes to grant and report writing and might be invited to contribute to scientific publications.
The Informatics Specialist II should be exposed to a variety of bioinformatics methods and data types (e.g., analysis and workflow development for Next Generation Sequencing [NGS] data including RNA, DNA, miRNA, methylation, microbiome, and ChiPSeq) supporting both the clinical informatics needs of Mayo Clinic.

Masters degree in domain-relevant sciences (biology, mathematics, physics, statistics or health sciences) or domain informatics (computational biology, bioinformatics) and 3 years experience in one or more these fields required.

Ability to function as an informatics resource and mentor. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Expertise in the use of informatics computing and data management packages. Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate various tasks on multiple, concurrent projects. Demonstrated success as an independent consulting informatics specialist on projects. Frequently demonstrated initiative/innovation in administration, education (seminars, training), software development, and technical reports. Strong project management skills.LOCALE

Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $2,957.60, based on a full-time position.HOW TO APPLY
